Getting settled

During my first days, I kept going around the city, trying to catch the vibe I was looking for myself. I met a few nice friends at Erasmus welcome week so we started hanging out with them while getting to know the city.

We started hanging out to study together in various cafeterias. What was an advantage of Spanish cafeterias is the cost of coffee which varies between €1.20 to € 2.20 while in the UK the cost is 2-3 times as much. For anyone coming I would recommend not going to the well-known franchises like Starbucks, because coffee there is going to be much more expensive.

The other time they found out when a contract signing for one of the football players and the supporters could enter for free. I was not as passionate about football as them but I still wanted to see the stadium inside so it was a perfect opportunity to do that.

I got to visit Guell Park 3 times now. Everyone at least heard about this place if they haven't been there. The first time visiting I thought maybe I was just too tired to visit, because I didn't feel the genius as everyone was praising the design. The second and third time I realized that it might be just an overhype made on Gaudi's name.

Casa Mila met my expectations. The visit inside was a bit overpriced ( €25 ), but the outside was beautiful enough to admire it from the outside.

Casa Battlo was even more poetic. The visit inside was a appropriately more overpriced ( €35 ), but the craftsmanship of the façade made up for that.

Sagrada Familia over 100 years under construction gathers tourists all through the day.

Palau Guell is one of the latest finished works of Antonio Gaudi for his friend and employer Eusebi Guell. I think its really worth a visit and it costs only €10.

Between the 23rd and 25th took the celebration of National Catalan Day. There was a whole program of what was going on in the city with at least 4 different, sizable concert spots, parades fireworks each Day and Castelfellers. I think during this time everyone can find something for themselves.

Here is an example of one of the figurine parades.
Magic Fountain lights, water and music play.
Final of the National Catalan Day Celebration.
Dance of Dragon Parade
Let me keep you posted with some new sightseeing tips pretty soon!
