The time I applied for the Erasmus scheme I was pretty much outgoing and travel oriented. My goal was to experience as much as I can in my student years. Life unexpectedly crossed my path with who later become my boyfriend. shortly after being accepted to the exchange. At the moment I only need to pass the semester that was about to finish and I was good to leave for Barcelona. Fortunately, I was still planning to stay in Coventry as long as possible to save money for the coming year abroad. I had the strangest (in a good way) 4 months in front of me when my life turned around 180 degrees. For the year I came prepared to study and explore the city and other interesting places around Spain.

The experience of looking for a room was an emotional rollercoaster which smoothly continued to be homesickness. Keeping in touch daily helps a lot but the impact of separation is much more significant than expected. Directly before leaving, I considered changing my plans but in the end, decided that this decision wouldn’t be true to me. Now after a few months passed I started to realize that at this very moment, I would have chosen otherwise. I don’t want to believe there is something to regret, I am just hoping it gets easier with time.
