Visiting Erasmus friends

Updated: Apr 12, 2023

The same year I decided on my year abroad I had 3 other friends going on the same journey, two of them previously mentioned in Madrid and Granada and the last one in Lisbon. I was glad there is a few of them at a close distance so we can all support each other while also visiting new places. The first person to visit was my friend from Madrid visiting Barcelona. His visit occurred right after the first long month, I was glad to see a familiar face, but this time let me talk about the new places I was able to visit so far.

1. Lisbon

The first of these kinds of trips occurred in mid-November when after an important submission and before a change of schedule we got 5 days of break accumulated. My friend came to Lisbon for one semester from Poland. We decided it was going to be a perfect opportunity to gather there with another two friends from our old group of friends. It turned out our host actually lives in Sintra, which is about 25km from Lisbon so we got to visit both of these beautiful cities.

2. Madrid

In Madrid, we met with my old crew of Polish people from Coventry. The three of us arrived at our host place the same day. As the two of them were working we decided to make it from Friday afternoon to late Sunday evening to maximize the time we can spend together. The plan was to party like in the old times and see the most representative places in the city. We enjoyed the 2 to the fullest partying, picnicking, sightseeing and cooking together.

3. Andalusia - Sevilla

The trip was planned in order to celebrate the birthday of our friend staying in Granada. All the three of us met in Sevilla. Sevilla turned out to be better than anyone expected, a perfect city for a two days trip. We visited the Real Alcazar, Placa de Torros, Placa de Espana and the Parasol instalation,

3. Andalusia - Granada and Malaga

For the next two days, we planned to stay at our friend's place in Granada, she planned her birthday party and places to visit in Granada and Alhambra. We went to a beautiful park full of palms to have a picnic and enjoy the weather. After Granada, we went for another two days to Malaga. We visited the old town, Alcazaba and the beach. We also got to take a boat trip for the sunset, none of us have ever done something close to it, so we grabbed the opportunity and I can confidently say it was worth the price.
